Where your support goes

Donate to the Patient Support Appeal

Your donation to the Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation will help fund the work of The Sydney Breast Cancer Institute.

Based at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Concord Hospitals, the Institute provides comprehensive breast cancer treatment and care to breast cancer patients, including surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and wide range of other treatments.

The Institute relies on donations made to the Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation to fund vital breast cancer treatment, research, patient education and specialised equipment to supplement state funding. The Foundation also provides practical assistance and support directly to beast cancer patients and their families by funding initiatives such as our Patient Support Program, to improve their quality of life.

Donations in lieu of a gift

When celebrating a birthday or other special occasion you may wish to ask guests to give a life saving donation to SBCF, instead of a gift.

This is a special way of increasing awareness of our cause as well as giving your friends the opportunity to experience the joy of giving a life saving gift to mark your special occasion.

If you would like to request donations in lieu of a gift for your birthday or special event, we can provide tailored donation slips for your event to guests.

You can send these out with your invitations &/or make these available at the event. Guests can then donate in cash, by cheque or credit card and either send the completed special occasion donation form to us in the envelope provided, or leave these with you to collect and forward on to us. Guests can also go to our online donation form and make a "Donation in Lieu of a Gift for a Special Occasion" and nominate to make a donation to mark your special occasion.

Your guests will receive tax-deductible receipts for donations of $2 or more.

We will send you a summary of all donations and any message guests may want us to convey to you when making their donation.

For more information or to request donation slips for your special occasion, contact SBCF on 02 9515 6045 or email sbcf@sbcf.org.au.

Memorial donations

You may wish to ask family & friends to donate to SBCF in memory of a loved one, instead of sending flowers. In this way the memory of your loved one can be honoured by helping support the lifesaving work of the SBCF.

You may choose to make a single gift in honour of a loved one, or you may wish to ask family & friends to donate to SBCF in their memory. We suggest you include this request in your loved one's death notice to inform friends and mourners of your preference.

We will provide memorial slips and envelopes on request. To order please contact SBCF on 02 9515 6045 or sbcf@sbcf.org.au or ask your funeral director to contact us on your behalf.

Guests and mourners can complete the memorial donation slips and send to us with their donation. Alternatively you or the funeral director may collect slips on our behalf. Guests can also go to our online donation form and make a "Memorial Donation" and nominate to make a donation to honour your loved one.

Your guests will receive tax-deductible receipts for donations of $2 or more.

We will send you a summary of all donations and any message guests may want us to convey to you when making their donation.

Bequests

"To ensure that the fight against breast cancer continues I have left a gift in my Will to the Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation"

Natalie Goldberg, Breast cancer survivor.

A gift in your Will is known as a Bequest and is a simple and powerful way to make a difference to the fight against breast cancer and the work of the SBCF and SBCI. A valid and up to date Will is an important legal document that ensures our wishes are fulfilled after our death and makes our passing easier for loved ones, with little or no impact on your current lifestyle.

It is recommended that you consult a solicitor on all matters relating to your Will.

Types of Bequests

Residuary bequest

This is simply a gift of whatever is left of your estate (or a percentage thereof) after all your other gifts, taxes and debts have been fulfilled, giving you the comfort of knowing that your loved ones will be provided for whilst also providing your support to our work in dealing with breast cancer.

Residuary bequests retain their value over the years, regardless of inflation, as they are not specific amounts of money.

Pecuniary bequest

This is a gift of a set dollar amount determined by you at the time of drawing up or altering your Will.

Specific bequest

This is a gift of an item of specific value to be passed on to the Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation in order to generate funds, eg, real estate, paintings, jewellery etc.
